Description

Join us for an engaging exploration of how food shaped the lives, culture, and economy of early Americans during the Federal Era.  We will delve into the ingredients that defined the period -spices, fruits, grains, salt pork and beef to name a few- and uncover the stories behind the recipes.  By looking at the meals people ate, we’ll discover how food reflected their beliefs, influenced their daily lives, and impacted the growth of the nation. Through a blend of history and culinary insights, we’ll work toward a rich understanding of how the table helped build a nation.
