Description
Investigative genetic genealogy [IGG]is a new technique—and field—that is making waves in the public arena, solving old cases and providing resolution to countless families. You may have heard about it on TV or in the paper—but what about in the classroom?
Join Chelsea Hanrahan, MLS- librarian/college professor at New England College in Henniker, NH, and volunteer investigative genetic genealogist with the DNA Doe Project, as she discusses what investigative genetic genealogy is, how it is applied to cases of unidentified human remains, and how historical knowledge and research is central to the process of IGG and provides an effective and engaging vehicle for historical curricula. Participants will leave with real-world examples and a list of partnerships/contacts for potential collaboration.
