Learning and Exploring American Democracy

In 2022, the U.S. Department of Education awarded NCHE an American History and Civics — National Activities grant to provide innovative professional development in American history, civics, government, and geography for teachers in the School District of Osceola County and Brevard Public Schools, both located in Florida, over two years. Content-rich LEAD resources, including online webinars, classroom applications/lesson plans, primary sources, and digital courses, will be shared here.

NCHE is grateful for grant-funded programs like LEAD, which allow us to take teachers on field studies in historic locations. Educators learn in the places where history happened and maintain their learning and connections all year, through professional development and an online Canvas course.
