From annual professional development conferences to webinars and social networking, the state councils bring history educators, university faculty and public historians together to learn the latest in effective history teaching and learning. Each council operates independently so they all have their special programs and activities. Check them out to learn more what is going on in your state! Many have their own web sites with programs and activities listed there!

If your state is not on the roster then consider starting your own state council. The first step is to contact the NCHE office to find out about how to begin the process. Then start talking to your colleagues!  We can help you connect with resources in your state but the secret is in personally reaching out and inviting people to join the excitement.
